A lot of people think they have good manners.
But, they really don’t.
I am here to help all men have good manners.
So, in this article, I will be going over How To Have Good Manners.Lets first start with defining manners: Habits in which we use daily to express our outward way of behaving towards others.
Good manners can set apart a man from a boy or a gentleman from a guy. Since we only have seconds to make a good impression, manners display a gracious attitude rather than one of entitlement. Good manners can help you land the perfect mate whereas bad manners can leave you living in mommy’s basement. Real gentlemen quickly come to realize the power of having good manners and behaving in a respectful, tasteful manner no matter the occasion.
We’re going to start really basic with article one on How to Have Good Manners and then we’ll continue to get more and more in depth with article two and three.
Don’t Use Profanity
Gentlemen do not use profanity at all. When most people see a person cursing and using profanity in public, they often want to keep their kids and family away. You’ll also see that more often then not, those less educated will turn to cursing and those more educated easily find words in their vocabulary to express their feelings while still refraining from the use of profanity. If you find you’ve picked up the habit now is the time to end it!
Say Please And Thank You
Whenever or where ever you go always make use of “please and thank you.” When you ask for something say “please” and when you get that item, a compliment, or a another item say “thank you.” The best thank you’s are said looking a person in the eye, showing sincerity in your words.
Hold The Door Open For People
Holding a door open is an easy way to give something back to a stranger. Whenever you’re at the door and you see a group or just a few people coming hold the door open for them. We’ve become what I call a “me” society where chivalry is dying and kids forget the most simple niceties.
Look Someone In the Eye When You Are Talking to Them
Whenever you look someone in the eye while you’re talking to them you’re basically telling them you are paying attention, that you are genuine and sincere, and that you are trustworthy and confident. Every time you gaze off or look away when someone is talking to you, you’re just lowering the chances of them speaking to you again, or getting the job, the date or whatever you may desire from the conversation. Men make eye to eye contact. It also increases the quality of your face to face interactions. People that frequently look away during a conversation or that never make eye contact all together may give the impression of possible deceit, bad intentions, being a liar, or just a fake or phony. Good men have nothing to hide and therefor connecting with eye contact is essential.
Don’t Go On Your Phone at The Dinner Table
Never pick up your phone while dining with anyone other than yourself! When dining with a guest, date or business partner make sure that you are fully present by placing your phone on vibrate or airplane mode during the meal. Using your cell phone at the table to check the time, send a text or make a call is considered rude without exception.
There seems to be an erosion of manners in today’s world with the younger less affluent population. Don’t let this be you! Stay tuned for my next article about How To Have Good Manners Part 2.
